Much of a Muchness

Taken on 20 May, 2010 in Nellore.

There are many more of them in a line...all similarly armless and trunkless.

Will they be washed away during the monsoon? That would be an immersion without really immersing.

Hmm, I think they have stripped of the arms for easy transportation.
Now they are going to rework them.

Thats sad, people are starting to play around with Gods Idols.
@Darren, even for that purpose, it is shameful.

I think Darren is right...Sophie, religion is never hurt by a photo graph...anyway this is not vandalism, it was taken at the maker's...God's idol maker's...LOL

@ Lpine...I have not found the time for the creative poetry juices to flow...prose is easy and easier still is still photography...just waiting for the first sentence.

thank you all for the comments...I have let my imagination go sightseeing and am happy that you like looking at the world thru my eyes.

Nice pic..they are ready to suck all the Modaks from the world :-) {wouldn't it be better if the sky above and the road below in the pic wouldn't have been included, the statues needed whole focus, just a suggestion :-)]

I think Mr.Ganesh must have mutilated the hands himself in frustration. He must have thought, "after all the blessings I gave you buggers, you are still the same!!" We, greedy people.....

Every year around visarjan, the state govt issues guidelines to media houses and channels to ensure that broken or mutilated idols are not published..they believe it could spark off clashes. we as a nation seemed to be more moved by symbolism rather than deal with them with maturity required in a pluralist democracy like ours

@JMuse...This was taken on the 20th on an highway that is quite a thoroughfare...they wouldn't be standing if they insulted any religious sentiment...as I said they were at the Idol Makers/Artists workplace...and as Darren said they maybe last year's unsellable idols to get a makeover for this year...no offence intended
