Monkeying Around

Taken 18 August, 2010 at Kaligiri, Nellore Dist.

Monkeying around, waiting for my husband to deal with the government servants who were not so very keen on serving, and were monkeying around my highly irritated husband, I had the privilege of joining in with a nice little family of monkeys, who were really monkeying around! I enjoyed their antics from the safety of the car. One huge handsome alpha male hopped on to the tree above. He sat there, giving me some very unforgettable poses. His beautiful face, his auburn fur, dark brown eyes and the wonderful hairdo - spikes without the gel, is now imprinted in my mind. I will surely recognize him when I see him tomorrow, and he me, I hope. We did stare into one another's eyes for eternity!

Designed for Ever

Taken in 2009 at the Nagarahole' Check post, Karnataka.

The orphaned, much petted deer eating grass near an old abandoned lorry, both with their markings vivid and clear. I guess they have found a niche' that is both comforting and safe.

This scene has a feel of an old security blanket that I would love to snuggle to.

Don't we all often have those orphaned abandoned moments!

On the dotted line

Taken in 2009 in the Nagarahole' Forest Check Post.

The spots are a type of camouflage. They are meant to resemble the spots created by the sun as it filtered through the forest canopy. It lands on the ground in a 'spotted' pattern.

Incredible! What an ingenious creation by nature!

Deers are usually gregarious and shy away from humans. This one was a regular visitor to the check post. May be an orphaned kid looked after by humans. It returned to the forest after being petted for a while by the guards.

Intruders

Taken on 18 Jan, 2010 in the core forest of Nagarahole'.

It is obvious who the intruders are.
A handsome Gaur, Bos gaurus, the Indian Bison, crossed the path first before the whole herd of 30+ crossed over. The guards said it could weigh 3 tons!

Heard the Herd

Taken on 18 Jan, 2010, in the core forest of Nagarahole'.

A wonderfuly huge herd of Gaur, Bos gaurus, the Indian Bison, appeared out of the bushes. The calves about 5 in number emerged first and kicked around at top speed just like our domestic calves do.Full of energy, absolutely carefree. All the adults were alert with their nostrils flared up, sniffing the air. After they were sure that we meant no harm, they started grazing again.

Dear Deer

Taken on 18 Jan 2010, at the Nagarahole Check Post, Karnataka

My dear son was so taken by the deer that he followed it over to the grassland of the riverbank. It was lovely to watch them against the setting sun.
