Toddy Palm



Taken on 2 May 2010 at the farm, Nellore.

The Palmyra or Toddy Palm (Borassus flabellifer L.) has distinct male trees and female trees. These are the dried male flower spikes which have diuretic properties.

This is interesting...
In kerala the Coconut tree is used for extracting toddy...

It is called 'Kalpa Vriksha' also because it satisfies almost all needs of man...

Is this also doing same?

sure is interesting. just last weeken had been to vasai fort in north mumbai
and there had 'neera' which apparently can be fermented to toddy. they had tapped it from date palms.
